On Wednesday, January 27th, the Senate convened to discuss Senate Bill 5061, relating to unemployment insurance. The bill provides unemployment insurance benefits to high risk individuals during a public health emergency and waives the one week waiting period to receive shared work benefits for federal employees. It also increases the minimum weekly benefit amount from 15% to 20 % of the average weekly wage; and includes tax relief for businesses that are most impacted by COVID-19.
